help for bkup of data on sql 2000

hi al....'m jus a studen tryin to learn sql server..

rite now m using sql server 2000..

i'd like to transfer an existing database from my comp to anohthr ...

im sure this portability issue can b taken care of by taking a backup of the db. and then later adding it into the othr machine...

please guide me as to how i can take the bkup and then later how i can add this database on to the other machine...
