Help : I Can't Re-installed RS !
My Database is on a distant Server.
I want to re-install Reporting Service and I have this message when I select
my Report Server Database (the same as before the uninstal) : "The Report
Server Database is a different version and cannot be used for this
installation."
Can you help me ?First you need to install RS and point to an new DB. After the install
upgrade RS to SP1. Once this is done you will need to run RSConfig to point
to the old DB. If you saved off your Symmetric key you will want to reapply
it using rskeymgmt.exe. If you did not you will need to run
rskeymgmt.exe -d. Doing this will delete all the encrypted content, meaning
you will have to reenter all of your report credentials.

I don't use your method because RS has allready uninstalled and so I can't
save my key.
I delete from my SQL Server the DataBase Report and the database
ReportserverTempDB. I run RS install, I select my SQL Server and I can
continu running the install.
I can deploy my reports so now ... all is good ...

Help ! Database Still says loading after restore
My database is still showing Loading ... after doing a restore and the
restore showing it to be successfull.
I have restarted the service as well.

You don't say what type of RESTORE it was, but if you were restoring a log,
you may have left the database expecting more log restores. If so, you can
try RESTORE MyDB WITH RECOVERY to get it back online.
If that doesn't help, I suggest you give some more information - which MSSQL
version, what type of restore, exactly how you restored it, etc.

Help - how to open Report in new browser window?
I am struggling with this...but I am getting close.
I am trying to use the Web Service programming interface from my ASP.Net
application. What I am trying to accomplish...is to allow the user to set
some report parameters (date ranges, zip codes, etc). When the user presses
the Run button on my ASP.Net page, I would like to render the report in a new
browser window/page, and with the Toolbar so the user could export to
whatever format that they want. Is this possible?
Thanks for any help...
- DW
The code I am using now is the following..
Dim rptIRIS As Byte() = Nothing
Dim rsIRIS As Secure_SQLRS.ReportingService = New
Secure_SQLRS.ReportingService
rsIRIS.Credentials = New System.Net.NetworkCredential("ME", "Pwd",
"Domain")
rsIRIS.PreAuthenticate = True
Dim rptPath As String = "/WebReports/UserLabels"
Dim rptFormat As String = "HTML4.0"
Dim rptViewerInfo As String = "<DeviceInfo>" & _
"<Toolbar>true</Toolbar>" & _
"<Parameters>false</Parameters>" & _
"<DocMap>true</DocMap>" & _
"<Zoom>100</Zoom>" & _
"</DeviceInfo>"
Dim rptParams(1) As Secure_SQLRS.ParameterValue
Dim paramValue As Secure_SQLRS.ParameterValue = New
Secure_SQLRS.ParameterValue
paramValue.Name = "ProductID"
paramValue.Value = "102"
rptParams(0) = paramValue
paramValue = New Secure_SQLRS.ParameterValue
paramValue.Name = "ZipCode"
paramValue.Value = "12345"
rptParams(1) = paramValue
Dim rptHistoryID As String = Nothing
Dim credentials() As Secure_SQLRS.DataSourceCredentials = Nothing
Dim showHideToggle As String = Nothing
Dim encoding As String
Dim mimeType As String
Dim warnings() As Secure_SQLRS.Warning = Nothing
Dim rptHistoryParams() As Secure_SQLRS.ParameterValue = Nothing
Dim streamIDs() As String = Nothing
Dim rptSessionHdr As Secure_SQLRS.SessionHeader = New
Secure_SQLRS.SessionHeader
rsIRIS.SessionHeaderValue = rptSessionHdr
Try
' execute the report
rptIRIS = rsIRIS.Render(rptPath, rptFormat, rptHistoryID,
rptViewerInfo, rptParams, credentials, _
showHideToggle, encoding, mimeType, rptHistoryParams,
warnings, streamIDs)
rptSessionHdr.SessionId = rsIRIS.SessionHeaderValue.SessionId
Response.Clear()
' set the http headers for the PDF response
HttpContext.Current.Response.ClearHeaders()
HttpContext.Current.Response.ClearContent()
HttpContext.Current.Response.ContentType = "text/html"
HttpContext.Current.Response.AppendHeader("Content-Disposition", _
"filename=""AddressLabels.HTM""")
' send the byte array containing the report as a binary response
HttpContext.Current.Response.BinaryWrite(rptIRIS)
HttpContext.Current.Response.End()
Catch ex As Exception
Finally
End TryYou won't be able to accomplish this with straight SOAP interfaces. You will
have to use a combination of Web service calls to list the reports in the
namespace and then a URL request to the server that includes the
parameterized URL for the report. You can certainly open it in a new browser
window under those conditions.

ThanksHi,
I was having this exact same problem, here is what resolved this issue
for me:
1. Go to C:\Documents and Settings\"sql startup account"\Application
Data\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\S-1-5-21.....
(where "sql startup account" should be the name of your startup account
for sql server")
2 Backup and then delete any files in the S-1-5-21etcetc folder. (but
don't delete the folder)
3. Restart SQL Server.

Help
I am using Visual studio 2005 to write a web service. I am not able to
connect to database. I get the usual Named pipes provider error:could
not open a connection to the server. So I read up some material and
found out that I have to start the sqlbrowser service(using surface
area configuration manager) and create exceptions for the firewall for
the sqlexpress and sqlbrowser. I did all the things, still I get the
same error. However , when I add the datasource from the datasource
configuration wizard and test the connection, the test was succesfull.

HelloWorld_CLR not sending messages anymore...........
Hello,
Yesterday I made the HelloWorld_CLR sample work and figured today I would create a simple windows service to immulate its functionality. When this was not working I tried the sample again and it stopped working. I have tried several things and nothing has worked. Has anyone seen this before or have any ideas on how I can get it working again? I even tried removing SQL Server and its samples then reinstalling to give me a clean slate but that did not work. I did not make any changes to the software nor did I make any changes to the database however the sample did so I need to make sure I can fix this incase it happens in development not to mention I need to continue development.
The Client Queue is normally empty but sometimes has a request to two in it. The Server Queue has alot in it that are both Request and an unspecified type or has a URL for a type. I would paste it in but it takes too much space. Please let me know if you have any ideas because I am not sure what else to try.
Bellow is a sample of the output from running this sample.
Connecting to SQL Server instance
Connected to SQL Server instance
Transaction 1 begun
Dialog begun from service (HelloWorldClient) to service (HelloWorldService)
Message sent of type 'Request'
Transaction 1 committed
Transaction 2 begun
Waiting for Response....
No message received - Ending dialog with Error
Transaction 2 committed
Connection closed - exiting
Press Enter to Exit
Thanks,
Scott Allison...
Here is a good article from Remus on diagnosing Service Broker problems:

|||Hello Rushi,
I checked out the link you sent in your reply. I am not if when he states profiler he means the SQL Server Profiler and I am not familiar with it. I will play with it some but if this will give me the needed information I was wondering if you could tell me more on how to setup the options correctly and how to use it to attach to the local machine.
Thanks,
Scott Allison...
|||Before using the profiler, you should probably check what's in the transmission queue:
select * from sys.transmission_queue
Other places to look for errors is the Intiator and Target queues.
